Institute Overview
The Purna Chandra Industrial Institute is one of the oldest ITI of Odisha, founded in loving memory of Late Maharaja Purna Chandra Bhanj Deo with a donation of Rupees one lac from the Junior Maharani Saheba, of Mayurbhanj State. The Institute commenced its first session from the 10th August, 1931. The institute is situated at Station Bazar, the heart of the city of Baripada, nearby to the Railway station.
The aim of the ITI is to create a learning environment for the trainees and provide opportunities for them to realize their complete potential. Emphasis is laid on character building and development of individual aptitudes for learning and ability to adapt to the society. Our main objectives are (i) To provide a curriculum designed to develop a trainee physically, intellectually and emotionally so that he/she emerges as a responsible, well balanced & technically skilled human resource who can adjust him/her self in the modern workplace. (ii) To ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the contemporarly industry. (iii) To raise the quality and quantity of industrial production by skill upgradation of workers and (iv) To reduce unemployment amongst the educated youth by equipping them for suitable industrial employment and entrepreneurship.
Upgradation of PCITI through PPP
This Institute has been selected to be upgraded as a Centre of Excellence & the state Govt has entered into a MOV in 2008 November for adoption of the PCITI by NOCCi (North Orissa Chamber of Commerce & Industry) for its up-gradation under PPP mode. An Institute Management Committee (IMC) has been registered under societies Act with renowned members from industry & academia which takes decision for running & the development of the institution as per the IDP submitted to the Govt. The ITI was so far for girl students only. But the Government has allowed co education from the session of 2009 – 10. Govt. of Odisha has revamped the IMC & now M/s Hari Udyog Pvt. Ltd., Balasore is the industry partner of PCITI.
